City Council Approves Porky's Rezoning
In a 10-3 vote, the city council approved the rezoning, conditional use permit, and land use plan for 1851 Central Avenue.
Council Members Gary Schiff, Robert Lillegren, and Cam Gordon cast the three vote supporting neighbors.
Gary Schiff laid out a clear argument that this rezoning sets a precedent that should give the city pause. The city no longer examines land use when consider rezoning; instead it looks at nostalga and onion rings.

I noticed that you've somehow managed to brainwash some of the businesses on Central between 24th & Lowry to display your anti-Porky's signs. Funny how one of your biggest arguments is that Porky's will generate litter, yet did you happen to mention to those businesses that now display your signs in the area mentioned, that they have some of the most disgustingly littered sidewalk areas in all of Northeast? Of course you didn't. There's always room for one more hypocrite.
Shelley's comment is typically of defeatists who see the world in only black and white.
It's like saying, if we can't stop all of the crime we shouldn't try to stop any of it. Woe is us.
If that was the case, people in Northeast wouldn't have organized the Northeast Citizen's Patrol. We can't stop all of the crime, but we can prevent it and discourage it in the locations we patrol. This will lead to an overall reduction in crime.
Yes, there is litter in Northeast. Does that mean I should let it lay on the ground because I've already lost the battle with that litterbug. HELL NO! We pick it up even though we know there will be more litter tomorrow.

I am one of the chief organizers of the NECP. I think there are a few thousand people out there who can see clearly that I do not have a defeatist attitude. How ironic that you would make reference to the NECP in regard to my comment. You could not be more out of touch with reality. Since you don’t have the guts to sign your name to your posts, I don’t know who you are. But I think it’s safe to say that you obviously have no involvement with the NECP, and have no business referring to it as if you do. Your comment also fails in its attempt to deflect attention away from your hypocrisy. I said nothing about YOU picking up litter, and I agree, we all need to do that. My comment questioned whether you held those business owners accountable for their immediate area, as you no doubt will hold Porky’s responsible and resume your hysterical rantings as soon as the first straw wrapper drops on the ground in front of Porky’s.
